Athlete of the Week: Cole Proffitt
Manheim Central's javelin sensation Cole Proffitt is Athlete of the Week!
Cole completed the trifecta of post season gold with a win this past Saturday at the state track meet. He uncorked a 201ft throw in brutally windy conditions to claim the title. He adds that win to victories in both the Lancaster-Lebanon league meet and the District 3 meet.
Three weeks; three gold medals.
Quite a way to finish up a high school throwing career. Proffitt will continue his track and field career at Penn State University in the fall.

Athlete of the Week: Mary Witmer
Ephrata's trackstar Mary Witmer is the Athlete of the Week!
Hurdler Mary Witmer of the Ephrata Mount's may be the fastest 300m female hurdler in Pennsylvania. This past weekend Witmer smashed the District 3 record in the 300m hurdles finishing in impressive time of 42.11.
Her first place victory earned her a top seed at states for the 300m hurdles. Hopefully she will bring home another gold medal at the state meet this weekend at Shippensburg.

Pitcher Trey Eberly racked up 11 strikeouts yesterday in the Barons' upset win over Section 2 champ Ephrata. Eberly allowed just one walk and only 4 hits in the game.
The Manheim Central Baron's season continues with District 3 playoffs beginning next Monday.

Athletes of the Week: Ephrata Girls Track
The ladies of Ephrata track are our Athletes of the Week!
The whole team gets the honor this week after securing a second straight section 2 title.
The girls won it last year as well, after a 25 year drought, and they did it again in 2013.
They finalized the crown with a win over Lebanon last week, and they aren't done yet; the upcoming L-L championships begin this coming Friday, May 10th.
